31st January

Day 9 cont.

After lunch we carried on up the coast, this is very much Russian territory, the majority of the bars and restaraunts have their signage in Russian. The beaches are magnificent and lots are much quieter than down our way.

The names of the beaches all got a bit confused here. The roads to the beaches run through rural India and some of the villages probably have not changed in any major respect for decades. I did not take any photos. because it seemed like turning the place into a zoo.
Further up at the border is the Tiracol River, on this river one of the main industries is dredging for sand.

Divers go down and scoop up buckets of sand that are hauled up into the boat and brought to the shore.

After watching this for a bit,we turned back south, not having enough time to cross over into Maharashtra, back to Calangute
